The tuition fee is all-inclusive and covers textbooks, learning materials, and the student assistance levy (SAL). Below is the fee schedule for the 2026–27 MEERL intake. All fees are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are subject to Board approval.

Travel costs for on-site sessions are not included in the program fee. Students are responsible for arranging and covering their own travel, accommodation, and meals for approximately fourteen days of in-person learning.
The field course is an optional elective. The fee is approximately $1,000 to $1,500 and includes hotels, transportation between sites, and selected meals.
Financing & Funding Options
Graduate Payment Plan
Queen’s University offers a Pre-Authorized Payment Plan for all graduate students. This plan breaks tuition into monthly payments instead of term-based payments and does not include any additional fees.
Support from Your Employer
The MEERL office can provide a letter outlining the value of the program and the ways employers may support participation, including paid time for study or tuition contributions.
Rose Family Award
The Rose Family MEERL Award supports students by helping reduce financial barriers to the MEERL program. Up to $30,000 is available annually, distributed among successful applicants in varying amounts.
Student Status
A student is considered Domestic if they hold Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, landed immigrant status, or dual Canadian citizenship. Some International students may qualify for exemptions. Please review the International Student Fee Exemptions on the Office of the University Registrar website.
