�鶹��վ Observatory

The first �鶹��վ Observatory was established in 1855, the beginning of a long and distinguished history of sharing the secrets of the universe at �鶹��վ University. The current Observatory houses a 14-inch reflecting telescope in a dome on the roof of Ellis Hall, used primarily for student training and public demonstrations. The �鶹��վ Observatory is a non-profit facility run by the �鶹��վ University Astronomy Research Group and the �鶹��վ Physics Department. It is staffed by graduate and undergraduate students in Astronomy. For well over a century, the �鶹��վ Observatory has been providing access to the campus and community through its student training and public programs.

Open Houses

Public Open Houses are an exciting way for the Queen's Observatory to give back to the Kingston community by sharing our knowledge and facilities to inquiring minds young and old. Our guests are invited to come and experience free of charge the wonders of our Universe from the smallest planets to the largest galaxies!

School Tours

The Queen's Observatory offers daytime tours for schools, summer camps and educational institutions. The Queen's Observatory and the �鶹��վ Miller Museum of Geology have started a joint educational programme, The Earth & The Stars!, which links to the science curricula for Grades 4, 6, and 9. Schools can bring one or two classes at a time, with each class spending an hour at each site.
